The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description
This description covers the requirements for plastic, drinking water dispenser bottles.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
1.1 Material shall be clear or water-blue polycarbonate polymer used for drinking water containers.
1.2 Water bottle shall be a design commercially available with an 18.925 liter (5 gallon) capacity, a tolerance of +/- 5%.
1.3 The orifice if the bottle shall be a nominal 3.5 centimeters (1-3/8*) in diameter with a tolerance of +/- 5%.
1.4 The bottle, full of water, shall not crack, when dropped on its bottom from a height of one meter (3.28 feet) onto a hard concrete floor.
1.5 Workmanship. The bottles shall be free from any defect that may affect its serviceability, durability, appearance, or present a hazard to the end user.
